10th February 09 - Consciousness and the brain

Pascal Saker gave a talk on consciousness and the brain.

What is consciousness? How does it relate to the brain? Why do we have it? What is self-consciousness? This talk discusses these questions with reference to recent findings from neuroscience. These findings challenge our preconceived notions of what subjective experience is and our very notion of 'self'. As we will find out, these findings are gradually converging towards a radically new conception of the world and how we relate to it. We will discuss what this revolution is and how we can personally take advantage of it.
